1.Na tmavej opustenej diaľnici, chladný vietor vo vlasoch,
svieža vôňa kolitasu vznášajúca sa povetrím.
Vpredu v diaľke som uvidel mihotajúce sa svetlo,
hlava mi oťažela a zrak sa mi zakalil.
Musel som sa zastaviť na noc.

2.Stála vo dverách,
počul som zvon svojho poslania a pomyslel som si,
možno to bude nebo a možno peklo.
Potom zažala sviecu a ukázala mi cestu.
Z chodby sa ozývali hlasy, zdalo sa mi, že ich počujem hovoriť:

Vitaj v hoteli Kalifornia., také pekné miesto, taká pekná tvár.
Plno izieb v hoteli Kalifornia
kedykoľvek cez rok tu môžeš nájsť.

3. Nosí šperky značky Tiffany, má Mercedes Benz,
má veľa pekných chlapcov, ktorých volá priatelia.
Ako tancujú na dvore, sladký letný pot,
niektorí tancujú kôli spomienkam, iní aby zabudli.

4.Tak som zavolal kapitána: prosím dones mi víno.
Odpovedal: nemáme tu tento alkohol od roku1969.
A stále sa tie hlasy ozývajú z diaľky,
zobudia ťa o polnoci aby si ich počul hovoriť:

R: Vitaj v h.K. .... Užiívajú si v h.K., aké príjemné prekvapenie, máš aliby.

5.Zrkadlá na strope, ružové šampanské v ľade a povedala:
Sme tu všetci ako väzni našich vlastných túžob.
A v komnatách majstra sa zhromažďujú na hostinu, bodajú ju oceľovými nožmi
ale nevedia zabiť tú šelmu.

6.Posledné, čo si pamätám, utekal som k dverám.
Chcel som nájsť cestu späť k miestu, kde som bol predtým.
Uvoľni sa, povedal strážnik.
Sme naprogramovaní na príjem.
Môžeš sa odhlásiť kedy chceš, ale nemôžeš nikdy odísť.
